Australian Anglers Association, (WA Division) Inc.
Lancelin Angling and Aquatic Club Safety Officer's Report, 20 February 2002.
Hello once again fellow Boaters, Members and Friends of the LAAC and LSSR Groups.
Proposed Rescue Vessel
We need some volunteers to help starting to pull the motor out for Russell, so as I can take to Perth and have it assessed and made
reliable.
Please call myself, Lyn or Laurie Robinson, if you are able to assist, and we will make a date.
Rubber duck
We are still awaiting confirmation of sponsorship so we can update the IRB, Neil Lee has been keeping an eye on the rubber duck and
making running repairs, by the time we go to sell it, it will be a reliable boat as a tender or whatever, expressions of interest
will be sought eventually for the purchase of the IRB.
Also we have a 40hp Mariner (which runs like a Swiss watch), which will be available soon, expressions of interest will be sought,
once it becomes available.
Both items will be sold to upgrade, to newer items.
Offshore Rescue
On the 16th March 2002 we will be running a mock rescue, involving casualties, all the volunteers i.e. LSSR Rescue personnel, Fire
Brigade and St John Ambulance members will be involved.
If you wish to be a spectator on one of the boats or wish to be involved in the set up and procedure, please feel free to call
myself or Lyn and Laurie, and I'm sure you would be more than welcome to attend/participate.
During the week of 11th Feb there was a rescue in the bay that nearly pre-empted this mock event, with a windsurfer dislocating his
shoulder and requiring assistance to shore, Laurie our Radio Officer and Dick DeGracie used their dinghies to attend with both Bob
James (St John Ambulance) and Cliff Howe (Police), going to the rescue.
All ended well with a much-relieved windsurfer, returning to shore and both Bob James and Rosie "Moo-rins" (Silver Chain) relocating
his shoulder.
Car Park Sale
It is proposed to have a car park sale at the LAAC headquarters in Nov, if you have some items that the LSSRG or LAAC can have, that
you have no further use for can we grab them off you and make up a bay?
This would be much appreciated; any item or items would be
appreciated. Already we have some items earmarked, which have been kindly donated.
Well that's enough for now!
Safe Boating. Pat Shinnick Safety Officer and AAA Delegate.
