Australian Anglers Association, (WA Division) Inc.
Lancelin Angling and Aquatic Club Competition Report, 16 February 2002.
The competition was called the Life Members cup, and was a species event.
Overall Deep Sea winner was Neil Lee with 206.96pts consisting of 6 species, ranging from a 13.02kg Jewfish, 17kg Samson Fish,
Skippy, Whiting, Breaksea cod and a Blue Morwong.
Lancelin Angling and Aquatic club runs an Offshore (Deep Sea) and an Inshore (Bay) event together.
So the Overall winner of the Bay was Gordon Pilgrim with a nice brace of fish at 42.72 points.
At the LAAC we have been fortunate enough to have one of our club members (Russell Williams) donate $1000 in cash towards the
competitions, trying to entice more members to weigh in fish. Lancelin has a reasonable membership but not many fisho's weigh
in due to the fact that some are still getting used to competitions and feel a little "embarrassed", when weighing in, so the
prize is given in the form of 2 x $30 cash prizes for the participants who weigh in, one for Deep Sea and one for Bay.
How ironic the first time we did it (and this was done at the completion of the weigh in) the 2 overall winners received the cash
incentives as well! (i.e. Neil Lee and Gordon Pilgrim).
Gordon re donated his prize back to the Junior Participants prize so Deanne Dickson won the $30, (of course she fished with her
two brothers in the bay and her older brother tried (note tried) to get some money from her), Deanne also won the Junior Bay prize.
